Defence Minister Wayne Sturge has extended greetings to the Trinidad and Tobago Cadet Force (TTCF), which celebrated its 116th anniversary on Friday.
Mr Sturge said the Cadet Force has been a cornerstone of youth development in Trinidad and Tobago, “instilling discipline, leadership, resilience, and a deep sense of national duty in generations of young Trinidad and Tobagonians.”
“The Cadet Force plays a quiet yet critical role in cultivating these attributes, helping to build a generation that is not only aware of its responsibility but ready to respond when called upon,” Mr Sturge stated.
He said the Ministry of Defence recognizes and values the Cadet Force as a vital partner in nation-building.
“Through structured training, mentorship, and exposure to service, the organization continues to provide a positive pathway for young people to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Mr Sturge stated.
He commended all members of the Cadet Force for their unwavering commitment and service, and stated that their contributions have strengthened the fabric of society and inspired confidence in the future of our nation.
The TTCF hosted its 116th Anniversary Interfaith on Sunday at St Mary’s College Immaculate Conception Chapel in Port of Spain.
Among the attendees were Mr. Narine Charran, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, alongside Lt. Col. Marlon Hart, Acting Deputy Commandant of the Trinidad and Tobago Cadet Force.
