Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has been suspended for 10 matches by FIFA, for his role in the on-field clashes following Argentina’s 1-0 defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.

His team-mate Nahuel Molina has received a seven-match ban, while Spain midfielder Gavi and Argentina’s Thiago Almada have each been suspended for one match.

All players have also been fined.

One of Argentina’s assistant coaches, Roberto Ayala, was also banned for three matches and fined US$30,000 for striking Spain’s Dani Olmo in the face.

Meanwhile the Argentine Football Association has been fined$321,000, of which $100,000 must be used for an anti-discrimination programme, while another $100,000 is suspended.

Argentina will also play its next home match at 50% capacity.
