The Fraud Squad is urging persons to be extremely vigilant in financial dealings.
It comes after Kareem Forte of Moruga appeared in court charged with two counts of Obtaining Money by False Pretences.
He was granted $50,000 bail by Master Whitney Franklin at the South Court C High Court on Wednesday, with the matter then transferred to the Couva District Court for a summary trial on October 22nd.
Forte was charged as part of an ongoing fraud investigation and is accused of obtaining $20,000 and $10,000 by false pretences.
The Fraud Squad is advising persons to verify transactions: by always confirming the legitimacy of individuals, businesses, or online entities before transferring funds, making deposits, or entering into financial agreements.
Persons are also being urged to keep detailed records of receipts, chat logs, bank transfers, and agreements and immediately report any suspicious activity.
