The Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined with the Embassy of Mexico in commemorating Cinco de Mayo on Saturday in Port of Spain.
Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, delivered remarks on behalf of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Sean Sobers.
The event also marked 60 years of diplomatic relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry extended sincere gratitude to Mexico’s Ambassador, His Excellency VĂctor Hugo Morales MelĂ©ndez, for his hospitality as the two nations commemorate this milestone partnership and shared history.
The proceedings included a ceremonial ribbon cutting to open a commemorative art exhibition, attended by Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Senator Darrell Allahar and Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Senator Professor Prakash Persad.
The Ministry said the celebration highlights strong bilateral ties and a shared commitment to future cooperation, cultural exchange, and continued friendship between both countries going forward together.
