The Caribbean Premier League will name its annual Hall of Fame player trophy the Sir Garry Sobers Award, in honour of the legendary West Indies all-rounder.
CPL said it secured the Sobers family’s support for the naming, which it describes as one of the most significant moments in the league’s history.
The award will be presented for the first time on September 15th, at the CPL Hall of Fame Gala Dinner in Barbados, with Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop as its inaugural inductees.
The gala will also support the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation’s prostate cancer awareness and early detection work across the Caribbean.
