The NCIC is rejecting what it says are allegations that the Prime Minister sought to victimise the organisation through the withholding of funding for Divali Nagar 2026.

The organization has released a statement on social media today, in which it acknowledged the resignation of Dr Shane Mohammed from its Board of Directors.

It says through Dr Mohammed’s notice, it was advised of the “narrative” in the public domain, which is that the Prime Minister “pulled the plug” on funding.

According to the NCIC, this should have been corrected, as the false perception led to the Prime Minister and her office being brought into disrepute.

“We wish to categorically state that these allegations against the Honourable Prime Minister have no basis. At no time, has the BoD held the opinion that the Honourable Prime Minister sought to victimize the NCIC through withholding funding. At no time did the NCIC in any of its releases further such an opinion,” says a statement.

It adds that given the complexities of running a country, it understands that resources must be strategically allocated for national development.

The NCIC went on to say that it looks forward to welcoming the Prime Minister on the final night of the Divali Nagar.
