The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has warned young people against turning to a life of crime.
Speaking against the backdrop of the killing of four members of the so-called Tall Boots Crew on the weekend, ACP Richard Smith warned on Monday that a life of crime leads only to serious consequences.
“There is no reward for criminality. The life of crime inevitably leads to negative consequences: loss of freedom, loss of opportunities, and in many instances, loss of life.,” he said.
“The TTPS urges you to make better choices and choose a path that contributes positively to your future and your community.”
Smith said the TTPS is maintaining its zero-tolerance approach to organized crime and is actively pursuing suspects in an ongoing investigation.
“The TTPS reiterates its zero-tolerance approach to gang activity and organized crime. we will use all available legal measures and resources to dismantle criminal networks and bring offenders to justice,” he said.
“We will not allow a small group of individuals to disrupt the peace and security of law-abiding citizens.”
ACP Smith said the investigation into the matter is ongoing and remains at a sensitive stage with suspects still outstanding.
The Tall Boots Crew has been implicated in 24 home invasions in Cunupia, Las Lomas, Chaguanas, Freeport, and Longdenville.
