The Joint Trade Union Movement is calling for the immediate withdrawal of a Legal Notice which establishes 15 no-protest zones across the country.
JTUM said while it supports lawful measures to combat crime and violence, the restrictions interfere with the constitutional rights of citizens and trade unions to engage in peaceful protest.
Under the legal notice, public demonstrations are prohibited within 500 metres of several state institutions and facilities.
JTUM described the measure as a significant overreach of authority by the Commissioner of Police and warned it could set a precedent for further restrictions on public demonstrations.
The group is urging the Commissioner of Police to rescind the order, saying existing State of Emergency powers already provide police with sufficient authority to maintain public safety.

Meanwhile, another coalition of 11 trade unions says it is considering legal action against Government over SoE regulations that limit public demonstrations at 15 locations.
At a media conference, TTUTA President Crystal Ashe said the unions are concerned about restricting on citizens’ constitutional right to protest.
The coalition, which is not operating under the JTUM banner, stressed it remains united in opposing the measures and defending workers’ rights.
