The Government is urging citizens to avoid travel to DR Congo, Uganda and South Sudan, which are currently affected by an outbreak of the Ebola Bundibugyo virus.

Travellers have also been advised to exercise very high caution when visiting nine additional countries identified by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

These include Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia.

The advisory comes after the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

Speaking in Parliament today, Health Minister Dr Lackram Bodoe outlined the urgent preventative guidance issued by the Ministry, as part of efforts to protect public health and strengthen border surveillance.

Citizens are being urged to reconsider travel plans, stay informed, and seek medical attention immediately if symptoms develop after visiting affected regions.
