THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine says the public has a right to be “damn vex” about disappearance of missing two-year-old Angelo Tobias-Plaza of Goodwood, Tobago.
Yesterday, in a strongly worded Facebook post, he said too many questions remain unanswered, adding that Tobago refuses to normalize the disappearance of children.
Mr Augustine says “Tobago refuses to accept silence, excuses or indifference”, noting that the child’s disappearance has “shaken this island to its core”.
He called on police and national agencies to intensify investigations and understand that silence in a matter involving a child is unacceptable.
Meanwhile, the search for the child has now extended to the Studley Park dump.
As of 4PM yesterday, the Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Vallance Rambharat, along with TEMA, intensified efforts to locate the missing child.
Residents of Cambridge and Pembroke in Tobago gathered along the shoreline at Cambridge Trace last night, holding candles and prayers for the safe return of missing two-year-old Angelo Tobias Plaza.
Community members say the nightly vigils have become a source of hope as many continue to believe the toddler will be found alive.
Angelo Tobias Plaza was reported missing from his stepfather’s home in Goodwood on Monday May 11th, triggering a massive search that extended to the Studley Park dump yesterday.
Investigators are still trying to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance.
Meanwhile, police say several individuals have been interviewed and statements recorded as investigations continue.
The TTPS yesterday noted that the matter remains a missing person investigation.
The child’s parents are currently assisting investigators with enquiries, while search operations continue.
The Commissioner of Police has taken a keen interest in the matter and has assigned additional resources.
Police are also urging members of the public not to share potential evidence or investigative material online, warning that it could compromise the investigation.
