Independent Senator Anthony Vieira says Trinidad and Tobago must treat Carnival as a full national industry, rather than a seasonal celebration.
In piloting a motion in the Senate today, titled “Securing the Cultural, Economic and Institutional Sustainability of Carnival, he argued that the economic potential is not being fully developed.
Senator Viera also questioned why the country rebuilds the Carnival economy every year, calling for it to be integrated into the creative economy.
