Security is being tightened in Islamabad as Pakistan prepares to host a second round of high-stakes peace talks, despite uncertainty over whether negotiations will proceed.
Posters promoting the “Islamabad Talks” now line major streets, as the country positions itself as a key mediator trusted by the United States, Iran and Gulf nations.
However, Pakistan has maintained a delicate balance—condemning recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran, while also criticising Tehran over attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
With a defence pact in place with Saudi Arabia, analysts warn that if talks collapse, Pakistan could be drawn into a wider regional conflict.
