Senator David Nakhid has called for tighter security protocols at banks after his car was broken into and he lost over $10,000 in valuables.
The former national footballer told TV^ News he was followed after using a Maraval bank and his vehicle broken into outside a supermarket.
“Security needs to be tightened in the interest of the customers who bank at these banks, and in the interest of the banks. They have service service charges, well extend service. Simple as that,” he said.
Nakhid reportedly locked his black Mercedes-Benz at the car park of Simple Choice Mart around 4:15 pm and went inside.
When he returned two minutes later, Nakhid found his car had been broken into.
A total of $10,000 in cash was stolen along with two bottles of perfume with a total value of $3400.
Also stolen were foreign and local ID cards, bank cards, and the keys to Nakhid’s home.
