A 28-year-old municipal police constable is expected to be charged today with the murder of Acting Corporal Anuska Eversley, whose killing at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station shocked the nation.

Police say the municipal police officer was charged following consultations with Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard.

He also faces robbery, firearms and ammunition charges.

Investigations were strategically coordinated by Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Natasha George, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Richard Smith and Senior Superintendent of Police, Sean Dhillpaul of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.

The investigation was supervised by Supt. Persad and members of HBI Region Three, while ASP (Ag.) Maharaj is the investigator in the matter.

Reacting to the news, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro says “no one is above the law” following the expected murder and firearms charges against a 28-year-old municipal police officer in the killing of Acting Corporal Anuska Eversley.

In a statement, Guevarro praised investigators for what he called swift and meticulous work, saying it reflects the professionalism of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

He said the case is a painful betrayal of public trust, but warned that officers involved in corruption or criminality will be removed and held fully accountable.
