Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says stricter security measures are being rolled out following this and other recent violent incidents.
He told the Senate this afternoon that new accountability protocols for firearm storage are being implemented.
Also, following Sunday’s quadruple murder in Morvant, the Minister said specialized units have been deployed to prevent reprisals.
Several suspects are also now in custody in connection with that incident, which also claimed the life of an 8-year-old girl.
Mr Alexander says investigations are also continuing into the discovery of 56 bodies, including 50 infants, at a graveyard in Cumuto.
He reminded that early findings suggest the unlawful disposal of unclaimed bodies.
He added that concerns raised by the Undertakers Association point to the need for stricter regulations.
