The family of seven-year-old Angelica Jogie has started legal proceedings, over the jet ski collision at Pigeon Point Beach, Tobago, that claimed her life.

The matter is being handles by Freedom Law Chambers, led by Anand Ramlogan.

The pre-action protocol letter alleges claims of negligence and breach of duty by the jet ski operator, the Tobago House of Assembly and Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

The claim referred to a draft Jet Ski Policy and Regulations document prepared by a THA task force in 2017, which had already warned about the dangers of jet skis operating near swimmers.

The attorneys argued that although it recommended safety zones, designated areas and stricter enforcement, those measures were never put in place, allowing the conditions that led to the fatal collision.

The family is seeking compensation for Angelica’s death, lost future earnings and the emotional trauma suffered by her relatives, as well as damages on behalf of her estate.

Freedom Law Chambers has advised that if no response is received within 28 days, it will file a High Court claim.
