Acting Venezuelan President, Delcy Rodriguez, has thanked T&T and several other CARICOM countries for their assistance in the wake of two devastating earthquakes.
With the help of an interpreter, Ms Rodriguez reportedly welcomed the efforts as a powerful demonstration of regional cooperation and brotherhood.
She thanked Guyana’s President Dr Irfaan Ali, along with the Prime Ministers of Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, St Kitts & Nevis, Belize, St Vincent & the Grenadines and the President of Suriname.
She also singled out Haiti, which she said sent 35 doctors and a field hospital, saying “We spoke about how Haiti will always be with Venezuela and Venezuela will always be with Haiti. It is marked in our history and with that commitment to where we come from and who we are when we set our course toward the future.”
T&T recently sent aid to hard hit areas via the Galleons Passage.
