Eversley funeral held, three appear in virtual court for murder

A municipal police officer is among three men who appeared virtually in court today, charged with the murder of Acting Woman Corporal Anuska Eversley.

The accused men also face charges for the theft of firearms and ammunition, from the San Fernando Municipal Police Station.

According to the T&T Express, municipal police officer Jivan Cooper, along with Kwame Arnold and Nicholas Ramdass, all of Claxton Bay, appeared in court today, charged with the April 19th incident.

Proceedings revealed charges for 114 pistols, one revolver, six shotguns, and two submachine guns, along with 173 magazines and over 4400 rounds of ammunition.

The full scale of the stolen items was not disclosed until today.

The accused were remanded into custody and the matter has been adjourned to October 15th.

Meanwhile, Ms Eversley was laid to rest this afternoon, following a funeral service at Faith Centre in San Fernando.

T&T Municipal Police Superintendent Wayne Mohammed paid tribute to her life, noting that she served with honour, “making the ultimate sacrifice in the execution of her duty”.

Also in attendance were San Fernando Mayor Robert Parris and newly appointed Municipal Police head ACP Wayne Mystar, who made a special presentation to her husband.

Ms Eversley was strangled and beaten to death while on duty at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station on April 19th.
