The EMA has issued a Certificate of Environmental Clearance for the development of a Marriott-branded resort at Rocky Point, Mt. Irvine, Tobago.
The presentation was made today to Superior Hotels of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd.
According to the EMA, the CEC assessment included public consultation and stakeholder engagement.
The EMA’s Technical Manager, Sally Maharaj, says the approval “represents a key strategic effort by the EMA under the guidance of the new Board of Directors, reflecting a strengthened, more collaborative approach to engagement with stakeholders”.
She says it also underscores a commitment to improving the ease of doing business while upholding rigorous environmental standards, in support of sustainable development across T&T.
The project will comprise a 200-room hotel, villas and townhouses, complemented by recreational amenities and green spaces that integrate with the natural environment.
