The Trinidad and Tobago Blind Welfare Association is today commemorating 112 years of service to local persons who are blind and visually impaired.
As it marks the milestone, the Association is highlighting challenges, including unemployment, inaccessible services and limited opportunities.
The Association says accessibility and inclusion must no longer be treated as optional and is calling for stronger national action to improve inclusive education, employment, rehabilitation services, accessible transportation and digital accessibility.
The Association says its vision is for a country where blind and visually impaired citizens can participate fully and independently in all aspects of national life.
