A second suspect has appeared in court charged with offences arising out of an investigation into a missing TTPS firearm at the Mayaro Police Station.
The gun, along with a magazine and ammunition, were found to be missing on July 29th 2026.
An internal investigation was immediately launched which led to their recovery.
Azam Ali was charged with Misbehaviour in Public Office, Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
He appeared before Master Raydon Dalrymple-Watts at the South High Court today, where he was not called upon to plead and was granted $100,000 bail.
As part of his bail conditions he must:
- reside at his residence in Sangre Grande until determination of the matter,
- submit his passport to the Registrar within two days of securing bail, and,
- not be permitted to obtain travelling documents.
A Status Hearing is scheduled for October 29th, 2026.
A 23-year-old male Police Constable with nine months’ service was detained and appeared before the South Masters’ Court on August 3rd 2026, charged with Misbehaviour in Public Office.
The second suspect was arrested on August 7th 2026 and placed on a Preventative Detention Order.
