The US and Saudi Arabia have signed a landmark 30-year civilian nuclear agreement.
BBC News reported that the deal creates a framework for Saudi Arabia to develop its nuclear energy programme, including the possible future development of a uranium enrichment facility.
While uranium enrichment can be used for civilian power generation, experts say it can also be used in the production of nuclear weapons.
The text of the agreement has not been made public, however the US Energy Secretary said the agreement meets nuclear safety and non-proliferation standards.
