The United States military has carried out another deadly strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, killing two people in an operation targeting alleged drug trafficking routes.
The US Southern Command, known as SOUTHCOM, says the boat was travelling along what it described as known narco-trafficking routes and was hit by a “lethal kinetic strike” ordered by senior command.
Officials claimed the two men onboard were “narco-terrorists,” but did not provide evidence to support the allegation. A video released by the military shows the vessel exploding after coming under fire.
The latest strike follows a series of similar operations in the region in recent days.
