Guyana has commenced construction on a new hospital in Bartica, Region Seven.
The new facility is expected to be completed in two years and spans 10 acres with room for future expansion.
At the sod-turning ceremony on Saturday, Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony said the government constructed the news hospital on a fresh site rather than retrofitting the existing facility in Bartica.
Services at the hospital include dentistry, audiology services, two modern operating theatres and a dedicated maternity ward and neonatal unit.
