The United States has sent planes, equipment and specialized supplies to Venezuela to assist search and rescue efforts following two devastating earthquakes.
According to the US Embassy in Caracas, two U.S. specialized search and rescue teams have been dispatched.
Each team comprises nearly 80 experts per team, including firefighters, medics, structural engineers and canines trained for debris detection.
The Ambassy adds that the personnel and specialized equipment are being positioned to target the most affected areas.
U.S. Marine Corps Major General Kevin Jarrard also met today with Venezuelan Chief of Defense, General Gustavo González López, and other senior leaders to conduct an assessment of Simón Bolívar International Airport and coordinate relief efforts.
