UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced he is stepping down as both Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party.
He made the statement outside 10 Downing Street today.
Mr Starmer will remain Prime Minister until Labour Party elects a new leader, a process he says should be completed before Parliament returns in September.
Mr Starmer’s departure will pave the way for Britain’s seventh leader in a decade.
Meanwhile, MP Andy Burnham has confirmed that he will run for leader of the Labour Party and Prime Minister.
