TTUTA is concerned about preparations for the reopening of schools on Monday.
President Crystal Ashe says these concerns include the late start of the Vacation Repair Programme, shortages of furniture, delays in salary arrears and book grants, and the non-renewal of contracts for some school support staff.
TTUTA also questioned the use of 200 On-the-Job Trainees to fill Business Operations Assistant vacancies, saying OJTs should not replace properly trained school personnel.
Mr. Ashe says schools must be properly staffed, adequately resourced and safe for both students and teachers.
He has also called for greater organisation and urgency from the Education Ministry.
