The visit by Foreign Affairs Minister Sean Sobers to Venezuela marks “a new chapter in diplomatic relations between the neighbouring countries”.

That’s according to joint media release issued by both countries, which have described their meeting as “productive”.

The statement says the Ministers designed a work agenda to facilitate the beginning of a new era in the history of relations which will be led by Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez, and T&T’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

It adds that this working agenda is a roadmap for heightened cooperation in priority areas such as commercial and trade relations, energy, agriculture and food security, sustainable development and environmental protection and culture.

Both countries also committed to maintaining a permanent communication channel to advance the established working agenda.
