An additional cheque has been handed over to the Children’s Authority to assist with clearing its arrears.
The latest cheque, presented today by Minister of the People Vandana Mohit, totalled $5,928,195.10.
It was received by the Authority’s Acting Director/CEO Alaina Boochoon, to cover outstanding bills owed to 78 suppliers, as well as janitorial services provided by five suppliers.
This brings the Authority’s total commitments settled by the Ministry to $81,501,582.62.
The Authority is expected to strengthen its financial management practices to facilitate the timely settlement of invoices and prevent the accumulation of further arrears.
