The North Central Division of the TTPS has reported a 9% decrease in overall crime for the period January 1st to June 22nd, compared to the same period last year.
Reductions were recorded in robberies, larceny, fraud and kidnappings.
However violent crimes, including homicides, sexual offenses, break-in offenses and wounding and shootings, continue to be closely monitored.
Officials say during the period, a total of 205 warrants were executed: this includes 43 time allow commitment warrants valued at $102,600, and 130 affiliation or maintenance warrants valued at over $1.5 million.
28 firearms and an assortment of ammunition were also seized.
Meanwhile, the Division has reported an increase in fraud on social media platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and TikTok.
Scams include persons transferring money for goods that are never delivered, purchasing gold from unknown sellers, and receiving counterfeit US currency.
The public is reminded that despite challenges in accessing foreign exchange, they should remain compliant with the law and conduct all currency transactions through recognized financial institutions.
