T&T’s Coast Guard assets have arrived in Guyana to assist with search and recovery efforts, following the sinking of the MV Barima.
Guyana’s Prime Minister Mark Phillips confirmed the Coast Guard, together with the Brazilian Navy, is supporting the ongoing operation, which now involves 19 vessels and two aircraft.
Authorities have also confirmed that four more bodies have been recovered, bringing the death toll to 57, 18 of which have been positively identified.
Recovery operations and efforts to identify victims and return their bodies to families are continuing.
