The THA’s Division of Health and Wellness is ready to roll out its Universal Child Benefit Programme.
This will see every child born after January 1st 2026, receive $500 per month for the first five years of life, with the money to be deposited into a dedicated trust fund.
The update was given by Health Secretary Dr Faith Brebnor during observances for World Breastfeeding Week.
The initiative was outlined during the budget debate in Tobago several months ago.
With regard to breastfeeding support, Dr Brebnor called for greater understanding and for the public to offer support without judgement.
