Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has turned the sod for a $540 million Marriott Hotel Development in Tobago.

The proposed project in Rocky Point, Mount Irvine

will feature a 200-room hotel, conference facilities and 67 residential units.

Also, while it will be a privately financed project, it is expected to create approximately 600 construction jobs and between 500 and 800 jobs once operational.

When considered alongside the new East Terminal at the A.N.R. Robinson International Airport, Mrs Persad-Bissessar says it represents a major step towards strengthening Tobago’s tourism industry, creating jobs and expanding economic opportunities
