The Bedside Birth Registration Service has been extended to the Sangre Grande Hospital Campus.
Under this initiative, parents can register at the hospital and leave with a birth certificate, rather than having to make a separate trip to the Registrar General’s Office or ordering the certificate online.
This marks the second introduction of the service at a public hospital, following its launch at the San Fernando General Hospital on January 1st 2026.
Land and Legal Affairs Minister Saddam Hosein, says birth registration has also been into the digital space through the iGovTT Verify TT app.
He says this will give citizens another way to engage with registration services, supporting the Government’s wider efforts to modernise public service delivery.
According to Registrar General Karen Bridgewater, 6,544 babies born over the past five years had not been registered.
She says this points to a need for greater public awareness and improved access to birth registration services.
