St. Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre officially assumed duties today, as the Chair of CARICOM, for a six-month term.
Mr Pierre will now lead the Conference of Heads of Government, CARICOM’s highest decision-making body, representing member states across the region.
It is responsible for setting policy direction, approving treaties, managing relations with international partners, and making key financial arrangements for CARICOM.
Decisions of the Conference are generally taken unanimously.
