SEWA-TT will soon begin a second round of relief efforts for Venezuela, providing targeted humanitarian aid to earthquake-affected communities.
This follows last weekend’s exercise where close to 200 SEWA TT volunteers assembled 1,000 Emergency Relief Buckets at the NCIC Nagar.
Speaking with Karen Dass on 103.1FM this morning, President Revan Teelucksingh explained the organisation’s approach to preparing relief packages designed for quick distribution.
Mr Teelucksingh said the relief buckets focus on practical supplies, including food, hygiene items and basic medical necessities.
He explained that items are sourced directly from distributors to ensure they have longer shelf lives, rather than relying on donated pantry items that may be close to expiry.
Mr Teelucksingh added that SEWA International TT has recently received charitable status, allowing contributors to receive receipts that can be used for tax deduction purposes.
He is encouraging continued financial contributions through participating supermarkets and its website.
