The Parole Bill 2026 has been passed in the Senate, moving the proposed legislation a step closer to becoming law in Trinidad and Tobago.

The bill, which was approved without amendments on Tuesday, would allow for the early release of certain prisoners before completing their sentences, once they satisfy strict eligibility requirements.

The measure is aimed at supporting prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration, while also helping to ease overcrowding in the country’s prisons.
