Investigations are underway after a prison officer attached to the Teteron Barracks in Chaguaramas was allegedly threatened by an inmate.

The T&T Express reported that the officer told police the inmate threatened to kill him during meal distribution and a medicine parade on Saturday afternoon.

The inmate has reportedly been in custody since 2017 on a murder charge.

President of the Prison Officers’ Association Gerard Gordon says threats against officers must be taken seriously, adding that prison officers continue to work under dangerous conditions.
