Police, soldiers and Coast Guard officers continued searching yesterday for missing two-year-old Angelo Tobias Plaza at Goodwood Bay, Tobago.

Authorities searched land and sea areas after officers reportedly spotted what appeared to be the childโ€™s body offshore before it disappeared beneath the water.

Acting Inspector Mahalia Bacchus said police conducted a search in the vicinity of Plazaโ€™s home.

โ€œWe have now concluded the search that we did along the bushy areas. We went along the shore, checking between the Sargassum that you see is heavily manifested in the space there,โ€ she said.

โ€œSo far we have turned up without anything. So we have suspended the search for now, and we continue (on Friday).โ€

In Parliament, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander confirmed that the TTPS Homicide Unit, Child Protection Unit and several other agencies are involved in the investigation.

Authorities continue appealing to the public for information.
