Attorney General John Jeremie says a gang-related security incident last Friday led to heightened protection for Government officials and increased security for parliamentarians.
The revelation came during the debate on the Parole Bill in Parliament today.
Meanwhile, Mr Jeremie said Government remains committed to addressing crime in the country, acknowledging recent incidents involving children.
He said these underscore the need to pursue “peace through war” for the benefit of all citizens.
According to him, the Parole Bill is intended to address repeat offenders and forms a critical part of the justice system. He said the legislation was first opened in 2021 and the Government remains committed to advancing it.
