The Reversible Lane Control System has been officially commissioned along the Eastern Main Road between Mt. Lambert and St. Joseph.
The new system covers approximately 2.4 kilometres, from the Mt. Lambert Circular Road to Abercromby Street, St. Joseph.
It is designed to improve traffic flow by allowing lane use to be adjusted according to prevailing traffic conditions.
It also replaces static directional signs and manual traffic arrangements with electronic lane-control signs installed at ten strategic locations, supported by three Variable Message Signs which provide motorists with real-time information on lane status.
According to the Transport Ministry, this is part of broader efforts to optimise existing road infrastructure and improve the efficiency and safety of the nation’s transportation network.
