The Ministry of the People says it is providing support to a mother and her 12 children following an urgent appeal.
The case, in East Trinidad, was highlighted in media reports last week.
The Ministry says representatives from its relevant service delivery units have visited the family to assess their circumstances and identify areas where immediate assistance could be provided within its mandate.
It says the family continues to benefit from two key social welfare grants to the amount of $2,700, and will be guided towards additional forms of assistance for which they may be eligible.
The Ministry is also exploring opportunities to collaborate with partner agencies to facilitate access to other Government services to provide further support.
It adds that monitoring will continue through the Children’s Authority, with follow-up as well on the progress of other interventions that have been identified.
