President Christine Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar have encouraged citizens to draw on the values of faith, compassion, and unity during this year’s Corpus Christi observance.
In their greetings, both leaders reflected on the spirit of the feast, saying it should strengthen relationships across society and promote a more caring and respectful nation.
President Kangaloo described Corpus Christi as a call to unity, service, and national renewal, urging citizens to uphold respect, decency, and shared purpose in public life.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar highlighted the spiritual meaning of the Holy Eucharist, pointing to its message of sacrifice, love, and hope, while also recognising the long-standing local tradition of planting and sowing seeds on Corpus Christi.
She noted that just as a seed must be planted and nurtured before it bears fruit, so too must faith, compassion, integrity, and love be cultivated within society.
