An early morning fire has destroyed the former Chaguanas Health Centre along Chaguanas Main Road.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said the cause of this morning’s blaze remains unknown, adding that no serious injuries were reported.
He praised the Fire Service for its swift response and containment of the fire, and again defended the decision to clear the former Vendors’ Mall.
The Mayor said the dilapidated structures posed a serious fire risk, and today’s fire shows why removing them was necessary to protect lives, businesses, and responders.
