Twenty-four senior public officers have been formally appointed, with 23 to serve as Permanent Secretaries and one as Chief Administrator of the Tobago House of Assembly.
Speaking today at the Diplomatic Centre, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar reiterated the importance of the position’s responsibility in supporting Government policy and programmes.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of of their roles in accountability, timely action and accurate information in supporting government decision-making and public service delivery.
Meanwhile, Mrs Persad-Bissessar has called on the Public Service Commission to address prolonged acting appointments across the public service.
The Prime Minister said the focus must ultimately be on improving efficiency and ensuring the Government delivers timely and effective services to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
