Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has praised citizens for their peaceful participation in this morning’s Corpus Christi procession, through Port of Spain.
She highlighted that people of all ages, including many young participants, set a positive example through their devotion, discipline, and commitment to community.
Their peaceful and faithful presence, she said, demonstrated values, such as peace, justice, unity, and mutual respect, which continue to guide the nation.
The Prime Minister encouraged everyone to let the spirit of Corpus Christi inspire a more compassionate and harmonious society.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro says the TTPS remains committed to protecting all faiths and ensuring the freedom to worship without fear.
Following this morning’s Corpus Christi procession in Port of Spain, he condemned attempts to spread religious intolerance.
Commissioner Guevarro said the “seeds sown today” should bear fruit of brotherly love, rather than religious, racist, or political division.
He added that this morning’s procession was more than tradition, serving as a reminder that respect, order, and neighbourly love are the foundations of a safe and caring society.
