Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has hit back at criticism for her recent announcement that 30 joint army/police posts will be established across the country.
In a post directed to the PNM, she accused the party and “the local drug mafia” of not caring about the safety of law-abiding citizens.
She insisted that PNM strongholds have the highest crime and unemployment rates, along with the worst infrastructure and fewest opportunities.
The PM has since accused the party of being “so full of hatred and racism” that they would refuse to cooperate with security services to bring safety to their own constituencies.
The PM’s statement however does not specifically address criticism from Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles, that the plan was an attempt to reintroduce elements from the former Zones of Special Operations policy.
