Today’s 2nd ODI between the West Indies and India has broken the record for the most centuries by individual batters in a single 50-over match.
The previous record is four, recorded in a handful of international matches.
In Guwahati today, there were five centurions: four scored centuries and one made a double ton.
Batting first, the Windies piled up 405/7, with scores of 101 from John Campbell, 104 from captain Shai Hope and 114 from Amir Jangoo.
It is only the sixth time in ODIs where three hundreds have come in one innings
India’s reply then featured 223* from captain Shubman Gill and 101 from Rohit Sharma.
In the end, India reached 406/2, securing a 8-wicket win and an unassailable 2 – 0 lead in the 3-match series.
