Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro is not saying which areas will have a heightened police presence under the new Special Operations Act.
The Act, which gives law enforcement officers expanded powers, is now in effect.
Speaking with the media today, Commissioner Guevarro said he is not willing to share the locations, as doing so could give criminals a chance to prepare to against police action.
Under the Act, the country is divided into seven policing districts, six in Trinidad and one in Tobago and allows certain areas to be declared “closed areas” for special police operations.
The new law is intended to give police more tools to fight serious and gang-related crime.
