Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says no one’s wealth or social status will place them above the law, pledging equal justice for all.
In a statement this morning, she accused certain groups of spreading misinformation, stoking ethnic divisions and attacking the US government and local law enforcement through social media and other platforms.
Despite those efforts, she said the Police Service, Defence Force, SSA and Prison Service have been able to reduced serious crime by 15% in 2026.
She acknowledged US support for the country’s protective services and praised their efforts to protect the country despite what she described as intense pressure and criticism.
The Prime Minister said the Government will continue to work with its international partners to dismantle the local drug trade.
